Sun Noctillucent Clouds Deep Sky Contact Me

Welcome!

Welcome to my web Pages! Here you'll find images of the Sun, planets, Galaxys and all sorts of astronomy related stuff. Most are taken from my run-off observatory near Birr Ireland. You may notice the Earth in some images - no I haven't jumped in a spaceship its added to show the sheer scale of these solar events.

Since the arrival of baby Oscar last month I've had no time to see the increase in solar activity. So I was happy to get these 3 images through a break in the clouds this evening. The Sun has been releasing CMEs (Coronoal Mass Ejections) for the last week. Heres 2 of the spots - AR11093 and AR11096 and also a large prominence which was on the NW.

Just a full disc shot today that shows only one Sun spot (AR11084) and quite a few large filaments.

We still have a somewhat quiet Sun the only points of interest being the Earth sized Active Region AR11084 and a nice prom on the west of the disc. Imaging was made difficult today due to a strong wind.

Still a quiet Sun as can be seen from the full disc image. There was a nice active area on the NE with a wall of plasma eminating from it.

The Sun settles down again the only objects of note are AR11076 on the SW edge and a circlet of filaments towards thet north. There was also a small prominence on the NE.

This very dramatic row of prominences appeared on the western edge today. These were the filaments that that were present for some days along the disc
